Our brake pads are manufactured using O.E. (original equipment) processes and materials. These brake pads are formed using a positive mold technology and are scorched, which means they are made to have immediate and effective stopping power right out of the box.
Positive molding is a manufacture process using tremendous pressure and heat to bond loose friction material (in a mold) to the backing plate of the brake pads. This procedure squeezes out any impurities within the friction material and creates a more uniform and dense brake pad
Scorching is essentially a pre-breaking in process of the brake pads. This is done by heating the friction material in a thermal oven. Thermal scorching yields a more consistent and higher friction level by burning off any impurities of the friction compounds. Scorching basically provides the initial phase of bedding in for the owner and ensures proper bed-in and performance right out of the box.
Brake Pad back plates are high quality steel plates that carry the friction material required for the braking function . The friction material is bound to the disc-facing surface for the back plate. The backing plate is powder coated which protects the back plate from rust.
The backing plates used by Padex are designed, patented and produced in house to OE specifications, they are fitted to the friction, material with a unique adhesive compound which can withstand high temperatures and resists extremely high shear stenghts .
Our advanced 3 layer brake shims are the latest technology for fighting brake noise. Brake shims prevent and reduce the transmission and amplitude of vibrational forces . This is achieved with dampening material bonded to the pad assembly. Our shims also add mass to the brake that can dampen vibrations in the pad and caliper. The shims can act as a thermal barrier to ensure consistent temperature across the pad, which gives consistent brake torque.
